Urban Knaves of Grain (UKG) Officers

The UKG has three elected officers: President (Abbott or Abbess), Treasurer (Master of Coin), and Communications (Master of Words).  Nominations are accepted every year at the May meeting and elections are held during the June meeting.

The President appoints additional members (Monks at Large) to the UKG board of directors as needed.

Elected Officer Positions

The three main club officers, as defined in our club constitution, are elected in June of every year with nominations taking place at our May meeting. The positions are open to any active members of the club who believe they can do a good job in any of the positions. Speak to a current board member or another member if you wish to be nominated for a position. Voting is done publicly at our June meetings.

President – "Abbott / Abbess

  • Responsible for conducting the monthly meetings.
  • Responsible for conducting the board only meetings.
  • Represents the club in an official capacity contacting breweries and vendors for club activities and events as needed.

Treasurer – "Master of Coin"

  • Manages the fiscal aspects of the club.
  • Reports cash flow at board meetings and annually to the members through the Knewsletter.
  • Files any documents required to the State and Federal government.
  • Maintains our non-profit status

Communications – "Master of Words"

  • Maintains and publishes the Knaves Knewsletter.
  • Communicates through online and social media communications vehicles that are deemed necessary by the board.
  • Liaison for organizational communications in general.
  • Marketing for the club throughout the year.

Monks At Large

These are non-elected volunteer members of the Board who attend board meetings and add input into club activities and events and the governing of the club. Some of these members may hold specific positions of responsibility such as Social Events planner and Tech Sessions coordinator. Everyone in the club is always welcome to attend Board meetings. Members who wish to be consistently active on the Board can request to be appointed to the Board as a Monk At Large by the President. Monks at Large get added to Board only communications channels.
